Tap Dance is the artful combination of rhythm, coordination, movement and sound with the feet as the instrument in a usually fast paced “symphony of sounds”.
Students learn percussive, foundational and rudimentary steps with the feet and body in order to build and create combinations, choreography and improvisation in order to become accomplished Tap dancers.
Staccato and sweeping sounds, bold and nuanced are used to reinforce, interpret and enhance the music we use; classical to jazz, rhythm and blues to funk! Tap can be performed with or without music as a soloist or in small and large groups.
Tap dance flows and evolves! Our endless steps, styles and movement come from personal inspiration, interpretations, and styles and influences from cultural dances and music from around the world.
There is no end to the possibilities of this fascinating dance genre, thus it is and remains interesting and fun for students of all ages who love learning for a few years . . . or a lifetime!
